Mobjack Bay, VA to Onancock, VA

355 nights to go – Departed Mobjack Bay across the Chesapeake bay to Onancock, VA.

The bay was a little choppy with wind, and we were going against the current, which was fine for us, but Liam seemed a little uneasy. Things calmed down as we progressed, so that was nice! We heard the coast guard talking to “Rock and Roll,” a boat that was docked across from us at the rendezvous. We could only hear what the coast guard was saying, so we just hope that Pat and his wife are okay.

Forgot to mention that yesterday Dan was working on the dinghy rig and the harness snapped. There was a loud, terrible noise — Liam levitated like a cartoon character, as did I. I ran out to the stern to see what was going on. Fortunately, the boom did not hit Dan in the head! He re‑rigged the davit system using the halyard, but now we have to deal with that.

We arrived at Onancock about 2:00 p.m., anchored at N37°42.64′ W075°45.49, and went for a walk around town. It is a very quaint town with a lot of pretty homes and beautiful roses everywhere. We stopped in at Mallards on the Wharf, https://eatatmallards.com/, for some drinks and snacks. Bill had a big crab cake ball, and I ordered crab bread because it reminded me of an appetizer that my mother used to make — yummy! Bill and Jill invited us over to Seahorse for fajitas, which were delicious (we owe them a few dinners!).

We went back to our boat and all the electricity just cut out. Dan started the generator, but then the regular power was working again, which is less than ideal because we don’t know what is wrong.
