Dan had contacted the lockmaster the night before indicating our intentions to lock through between 7:00 – 8:00 AM. We got up around 6:30, and Dan took Liam to shore. I cleaned up and looked out the window and saw a boat heading toward the lock. I grabbed my phone so I could call Dan, but they were already on the way back to the boat. We hustled to get the boat prepped for takeoff and headed to the lock. We then proceeded on an extremely winding river for approximately 40 miles. We made it through the Howell Heflin Lock along with Romi and Halcyon. We anchored just beyond the lock in the N32°49.99′ W088°08.44′. Weather still okay, but it’s not cold—only had two shirts on, no chaqueta! It was Dan’s last day of work at Gentex, he’s retiring, but when he tried to log on, he was blocked out of everything. He made some calls and finally got that issue resolved. We had lasagna and salad.
