We all got up. I got a cart and loaded the rest of my stuff into the rental car. The weather window for the crossing was still good, so I headed to Cape Coral to stay with Bridget (Liam too). Wendy, Dave, and Dan took off to the Bahamas.
WENDY HAS TAKEN OVER THE LOG
On the morning of 02/14 Joan and Liam loaded into the rental car and headed to Cape Coral to spend time with Bridget. Dan, Dave, and Wendy departed Bahia Mar Yachting Center and headed to West End Grand Bahamas. The weather for the crossing was just as expected—slightly choppy in the beginning but smoothed out as soon as we hit the gulf stream. Even smoother as we arrived after going through a brief Caribbean rain shower. Pulled up to the Customs Dock and immediately were greeted by the local bartender. Goombay Smash for Dan and Bahama Mama for Wendy, Gin and Tonic for Dave. Dan headed to customs where the clearing process went smoothly and efficiently. The staff was extremely helpful. Dan broke protocol and imbibed along with Dave and Wendy prior to moving Loop Dawg to her slip. It would have been rude not to sit and enjoy the cocktails immediately. Moved into slip C18 at Old Bahama Bay Marina. Went to shore and dinner at the closest restaurant. All three of us had cracked conch for dinner. It was delicious. We would return to the Dockside Grill without hesitation. Exhausted from our serene yet long and exciting day, we all hit the bunks at 8 PM. I forgot to mention that the Dockside Grill was decorated for Valentine’s Day with rose petals on the table. It was very romantic, so Dave and Dan held hands during dinner.
