Pumpout at Bahia Honda is not currently working—we should have paid the five bucks at Boot Key for a pump out since they only pumped out our small tank on Tuesday! Dan took the bus to Marathon (yesterday) to pick up a rental car so that he could get his renal artery ultrasound two hours away from Bahia Honda. Dan left at 5:00 AM for his 7:00 AM appointment. I watched crime shows—20/20, Dateline, and 48 Hours. I cleaned and finished making the broccoli slaw. Stuga stopped by to say hello as they had just arrived. They (Deanna and John) are doing great! Dan came back to the boat with the Walmart order and I stowed everything. Dan drove the rental car back to Marathon then took the bus back to Bahia Honda. We watched football and had pork tenderloin, applesauce, rice, and broccoli slaw for dinner.

2025-01-19 Bahia Honda
Dan does not work! Dan and Liam sat outside at a picnic table shaded by a beautiful tree. The weather was very nice—sunny, windy, and too cold for me. Dany called Dan to report that Piper was at Tufts Animal Hospital due to severe abdominal pain. Not too long after, Dany called Dan to say that Piper needed to be put down because she had a big abdominal tumor. I am absolutely devastated as Piper is my little darling. Dan was crushed too. I can’t imagine how Dany was feeling—the only saving grace for me was to know that Elyse is by Dany’s side, supporting Dany through this horribly difficult time. So, while Dan and Liam sat outside enjoying the nice weather, I sat on the boat sobbing. I’m thankful that Mindy foisted a big box of Kleenex on us. We are heartbroken. Dan and Liam came back to the boat. Shortly after, Liam was showing signs of distress—like he was in pain. Not cool. Dan called an Uber and took Liam to a pet hospital. They gave Liam a full exam and a potent steroid injection. Liam is on bed rest with no or minimal walking. The vet recommends acupuncture therapy in a few weeks. Dan wants to try to get Liam in with a neurologist. I agree—little man no longer knows where his rear legs are, and it’s sad because he doesn’t understand and we can’t explain it to him. If I wasn’t on the edge after hearing about Piper, I am just now coming to it. I just cried intermittently and tried to watch football.

2025-01-20 Bahia Honda
Cold and windy with rain showers. Forward holding tank overflowed. Dan spent a good chunk of the day cleaning that up while I fetched tools. Then I detailed the tools and the room and put everything back together. Liam is getting worse and can barely walk anymore.
