Bahamas: Abacos; Green Turtle Cay – Day 2

2025-03-08

Mindy got up early to catch the sunrise and then went back to bed. Going to do a walk-about today, and Steve planned to run. Running plans aborted as we opted to pre-pack. Our berth is in even more disarray. We dinghied into the harbor and tried to get a ½ day golf cart rental, but it seemed there were none available. Undaunted, we made our way to Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar—the home of the original Goombay Smash. Whilst enjoying our beverages, Dan received a call that a cart was available—a six-seater—so Mindy could face front. We sipped another round of Goombay Smashes. (Steve had 2 Sands Light—another miscommunication we believed was up-selling.) And Princess Leiah dropped off our ride. We headed out to Gillum Bay Beach. Had to stop as there was deep sand, so we parked and walked out. Beautiful view and we could see Piggy Island. Walked back and then headed to Coco Beach. There we saw a batfish—freakish, some tiny fish who liked apples, needle fish, a stingray (Steve got up close to it) and some turtles! We then headed to the Green Turtle Cay Club. Very posh, and they had dollar bills all over the walls, ceiling, etc., ala The Cottage in Ft. Myers Beach. We returned to the mother ship and the boys showered. Mindy opted for a bird bath, and we all headed back to GTC. Steve’s butt got wet (karma got him) on the way in. We headed to Bluff House to catch the sunset and have dinner. The place (on the Bluff House property) that Dan wanted to go was closed, so we went to another place on site. Dan and Steve had ahi tuna without the sesame crust, and Mindy had snapper fingers—all very good. Drove back to the harbor and headed to Sundowners. We first tried driving there with the golf cart, but there was a very sketchy corner, so we parked the cart and walked in. They had a pool table and played “our” era music. Headed back to the boat—very calm seas—and Dan is trying to get me to drink all the High Noon that I bought. There are fun-size peanut M&M’s on board. Time for cribbage. Dan will be solo tomorrow. PS: We had fun-size peanut M&M’s for dessert. Deflate-gate with the dinghy.

55 nights to go
