AICWW: Carolina Beach, SC to Sneads Ferry, NC – Mile Hammock Bay Anchorage

2025-04-27

I was tired after the concert but sadly Dan’s super loud alarm went off at seven so had to get up. We got all of our stuff together and Tony drove us over to Carolina Beach Marina. Tony and Renee stopped by to see us off – which was nice; it was chilly and windy and overcast. Tony said, “Don’t worry, it will rain off – he always says that,” but thankfully it did. The current was ripping in our favor so we were making good time – Dan had to slow it down so that we would not be hovering while waiting for the Wrightsville Beach Bridge in such a strong current. Maura, Jim, Tony, and Sawyer were watching at the bridge to wish us well. Just as I was settling in to make Dan’s lunch, he was going full throttle (no communication) to make a different bridge opening. Lunch production on hold. We headed to Mile Hammock Bay, within Cape Lejeune Marine Corps Base to anchor so that we can catch the Onslow Bridge opening tomorrow morning. They are building a new bridge so the bridge openings are limited. We anchored at N34°33.07′ W077°19.51′ , had burgers, and watched The Amazing Race.

Chart plot of today’s cruise.

5 nights to go
